A simple year-end calendar for 2026
- Late NovemberWarm up
Send a thank-you or an impact story.
- Tue., Dec. 1GivingTuesday
2–3 texts. MMS in the morning, an SMS last call at night.
- Mid-DecemberCultivate
Put a non-fundraising text between your GivingTuesday and late-December asks.
- Dec. 30 + 31Year-end
2–3 texts. Make your strongest push on the 31st.
Strategy 1 · Pick your days
Most of the money comes in on two days
GivingTuesday converted best. Dec. 31 brought the biggest gifts and the best ROI of any day. The days either side of each deadline cooled off.
Raised per $1 spent on fundraising texts, 2025. Non-advocacy nonprofits.
Under each day: conversion rate · median average gift.
Texts sent with 30 hours or less to go beat texts sent days ahead. And unlike past years, the day after GivingTuesday fell flat in 2025. Send 2–3 texts on each big day instead of a “deadline extension” the morning after.

Six strategies, each with a “put it to work” step
Here is the short version. The playbook has the data, the send plan and a real example text for each one.
Pick your days
Put most of your asks on GivingTuesday and Dec. 30 and 31. Send 2–3 texts on each big day.
Time your sends
Lead with the deadline and the match
All eight top texts featured a match. Open each big day with MMS, then follow up with short SMS.
Text the right people
Track donations
UTM parameters or a text-only donation form: either works. A four-step test to run before GivingTuesday.

Strategies 2 and 3 · Timing and format
A simple deadline-day sequence
Six of the eight top-ROI texts went out between 6 and 9 p.m. as “final hours” reminders. The other two went out in the morning.
- 9–11 a.m.MMS kickoff. Mention the day, the deadline, the match and the need.
- AfternoonOptional SMS. A progress update or a power-hour gift multiplier.
- 7–9 p.m.SMS last call. “Final hours. Your gift is still doubled until midnight.”
MMS or SMS?
December fundraising texts, 2025. MMS converted better and brought bigger gifts. SMS cost less, so it raised more per dollar.
GivingTuesday is Dec. 1.
